I met with nine Colorado and New Mexico Great Harvest bakery owners on Monday for one of their grass roots regional meetings. This group, having met for close to 20 years, includes a broad range of experience in the bread business from a 2-month old bakery to a bakery owner who has been running his Great Harvest business for 27+ years. It’s a great blend of passion, seasoned experience and new energy.
Matt and Sheri Salis, owners of the Denver Great Harvest, graciously opened their home for the event. Sheri prepared an awesome spread of food, including grilled breads and bread dishes along with their Boarshead sandwich meats and lots of great salad makings.
Matt and Sheri's kids enjoyed the visitors as well and had a fun time hamming it up for the pictures!
While the forum is conducive to lots of fun and laughter, it’s also a great place to share ideas…from recipes to marketing tactics to efficiency tips.
These bakery owners help each other troubleshoot and they boost each other up when there are individual challenges. It’s truly a wonderful representation of a learning community, and a place where lifelong friendships are strengthened and solidified.
Have you been in any of the New Mexico or Colorado Great Harvest bakeries? Do you recognize your local owner in any of these photos?
