A few quick points and, since it is summer, I am going to go off base at the end. I could, and maybe will, write a blog on each of these things but I think there are three absolutely critical elements in any local retail business concept.
1. Get the business model right. Make sure you have a product or service or idea that people will pay you for. If not, well, those are called not for profit organizations and even those need a service people need.
2. Believe in yourself. That sounds hokey but it is true. You have to be the first and most passionate person that believes in you, your idea and your abilities. If you don’t, no one else will. That isn’t arrogance. It is a belief that you can add positive change to your life and someone else’s. Those aren’t bad things.
3. Listen to your soul. That is the thing that speaks to most new, small business owners. If it is speaking to us, listen to it. Good and bad. It may tell you some crazy things, but listen. Sometimes, your soul is the only friend and advocate you will have as a business owner.
Great Harvest is a proven business model, focused on teaching you systems while allowing you to follow your gut. We would love to talk to you about owning your own business if that is a dream of yours.
Speaking of dreams, long time readers of this blog know I am a nut about space exploration and the Space Shuttle. I may have never gotten to see a shuttle launch from closer than 75 miles, but I can see the orbiters. I am planning on seeing all three that have been in space before the end of the year and I started yesterday with the Endeavour in Los Angeles. I have never really understood my fascination with the shuttle beyond it is something I share with our youngest child. It just is. Like all good business ideas that just are, that is an itch to be scratched. I do. And the shuttle is more amazing in person that even I imagined.
Listening to your soul and following your dreams = good.
Thanks for reading. And dreaming.
