I can’t be coached to win the Tour de France because I just don’t have that skill set no matter how hard I try. It is a different gene pool. I can be coached to qualify for the Kona Ironman but would I ever put in the effort to actually do that? I can be coached to cycle almost anything including a shot to ride the Tour de France route.
Three scenarios and three different results. No way. Yes, if I try hard enough. Yep, I can do that.
We work with people who leave impressive career success behind to jump into something new –opening their own small business. This week, I was talking with a good friend who was convincing me to start to reach again with my athletic goals. The congruence between the two just hit me.
At Great Harvest University, I don’t ever see us having a situation where someone just can’t get it. Our training is too personalized. I can see where people don’t take the coaching, which is sad because that is one of the things that we really love doing. Our baseline goal is to take every person that comes to us and says “I want to own a Great Harvest” and prepare them for a time where running a business and baking bread becomes natural.
We have our systems set up to where everyone that goes through our training program gets individualized training from a very competent group of coaches that love what they do. On-line training in business principles, in person training in baking and sandwiches in separate schools, a chance to put it all together in Bakery Boot Camp and we come to you and coach you individually on all aspects in your store.
And, this is maybe the most important part. If it doesn’t work, we fix things. If an area needs more emphasis for you, we do our best to get that to you. If the training is flawed, our coaches are comfortable enough coming to me to say “This needs work. Can we fix it?” And, the response is always let me understand the issue but, yes, if it needs work we will do that.
Back to my opening. Becoming a successful bakery owner is something that can be achieved by anyone willing to learn. Winning the Tour de France isn’t something that can be taught. With my athletic goals, I am happy knowing there are some things I am just not qualified to do. I am also happy knowing there are some things that are beyond my reach, in my mind, that I can absolutely do if I try. I am thrilled knowing I have some things that I have been taught well enough to where they are second nature.
Can we help you with your dream?
