Not by itself but it is if you channel it correctly. Hope coupled with passion turns into a dream, which becomes a vision, which evolves into a strategy, which becomes a plan which can be broken down into manageable tasks that become success. Piece of cake.
A favorite line of mine is “sometimes an overnight sensation takes 10 years to come about.” So true. And that is how it can be with HOPE as a strategy.
If I hope to do a marathon, that is one thing. If I re-hire a coach I have worked with successfully in the past, set a realistic time frame, develop a training plan and actually commit to the marathon for 12 weeks, then that is a strategy.
If you have an idea for a business idea, that is one thing. If you take the idea, figure out whether or not there is a market for it on a large enough scale at an appropriate price, figure out how to execute the idea in a cost efficient manner relative to the price, break all of that down into a workable solution and figure out how to fund it, then that is a strategy.
I recently had a conversation with someone who wanted to open her own business at a location in my neighborhood. When I inquired as to what she would sell, she said she didn’t know. Just something. That is hope NOT being a strategy.
Hope is a powerful tool when given the right amount of direction and energy.
What hopes do you have that can turn into reality?
